Andi's ABCs

How do I feel about this book? Hmm... I've been asking myself that since I finished and I just don't seem to have a clear answer. Being a fan of both authors I really wanted to love it and rave about it. And while I liked it enough, I don't think it would be fair to gush about it because something was just off for me. At least I think there was. Have I mentioned that I don't know what I feel about it yet?!

Burn for Burn is your basic revenge book. Three girls, Mary, Lillia and Kat all feel wronged by someone. They each have their reasons for wanting revenge on someone that hurt them or they think hurt them. Together they devise a “plan” to make three people pay. But as they are enacting their revenge some truths are told and questions begin to arise on whether or not they are doing the right thing.

The story is told from the POV of all three girls which is great since you get to see their motivation behind everything they are doing. That wasn’t the problem for me with this book. The issue I had was how quickly they all came together and decided they were a team. I just didn’t get it and I didn’t believe it. Mary was some random girl that neither Kat nor Lillia had ever knew and yet here they were sharing their secrets with her like she had been their BFF years ago. Then there was the fact that Kat and Lillia hadn’t spoken in years and had no problem going back to being “friends”. It just didn’t work for me. I did like the relationship between Alex and Lillia. There was something about him that I was drawn to no matter what he was involved in. He seemed like a good guy to me and I loved his obvious attraction to Lillia.

I guess what it comes down to is that I just didn’t really care about all of the characters for me to like this book as much as I wanted to. I absolutely love both authors so to come away feeling meh about the book was a disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, I will read the other two books. Actually I have a feeling Burn for Burn was really the set up book for the other two and that right there is why I’m not 100% sure how I felt about this book in the long run.
