This book was mentioned to me by a friend so I bought it on a whim and I'm not sad I did. Although the book wasn't as amazing as I expected it to be, the ending was a little too wordy for my taste, the story and the glory of the 1920s was enough to keep me interested. The fact that Cordelia and Letty were brave enough to leave home and head into an unknown world was pure inspiration. They were small town girls that actually became something of sorts in a huge city. Add in the addition of Astrid, Charlie and the cigarette girls and you have a well rounded tale of heartache, friendship and being stabbed in the back. Are there things I would have liked to have been done differently? Absolutely. But honestly I enjoyed my first Godbersen book and I look forward to the next one.
